Learn music with me

Whether you’re a beginner or looking to sharpen your skills with a teacher, I’ll help you grow as a musician with lessons tailored to your goals.

Teaching has always been a big part of my life. I’ve worked as a high school world history teacher and an instructor at a music school, which gave me a strong foundation in education and communication. I’ve also taught guitar and mandolin privately, helping students of all ages and levels of experience grow as musicians.

My approach to lessons combines theory, technique, and creativity — giving students the tools to understand music on a deeper level while learning to have fun with it! Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, my main aim is to connect students with the music they love and the music they want to create.

what i can teach

GENRES

I teach a wide range of genres depending on your interests and goals for learning guitar: from heavier rock and metal to a variety of singer-songwriter acoustic styles. I can even take you into the world of bluegrass and folk if you’re interested in learning mandolin!

Whether you want to dive into some heavy riffs or write your own songs, I’ll help you build the skills to play the music you love.

SCALES

Scales are the foundation for expanding your playing and creativity on guitar. I focus on helping students move beyond basic scales like the pentatonic scale, using it as a gateway to explore modes, “right and wrong” notes, and exploring the music you hear in your head.

Learning scales this way not only sharpens technique but also opens the door to new sounds, phrasing, and musical ideas.

THEORY

As an perpetual student of music theory myself, and I’ve experienced firsthand how valuable learning proper technique is for becoming a stronger musician.

My goal is to share what I’ve learned — and what I continue to learn — in a way that makes theory approachable, practical, and useful for your own growth as a musician.
